Ruby

My wonderful sister just let me know that she had to put her cat, Ruby, down yesterday. She had been really, really sick and they had tried a number of treatments but it seems that her time had come and there was nothing more they could do. If you’ve been reading this blog for a while you will know that I am totally and utterly in love with my dog, Crinkle (sometimes even more than Jason – but only us animal owners can relate to that statement!) I can’t imagine my life without Crinkle – she is the best dog anyone could ever ask for! I see her face first thing in the morning and last thing at night. And because we work from home, and Jason spends a lot of time away, she is my constant companion. Always by my side, my best friend, my wonderful dog. Although I can’t bring Ruby back – and let me tell you that I wish I could with all my heart – I wanted to celebrate, in this post, our pets and all that they bring into our lives. To everyone who has a cat, bird, dog, fish – give them all a great big hug today – because you know they make you a better person. As George Clooney put it – “Be the person your dog thinks you are!” Farewell Ruby – You will be missed. xx

Thank you for your kind wishes. I love that Gertrude Stein quote: “I am I because my little dog knows me”. So true!
Fletcher and Olive are adorable – we love them regardless of their faults as they love us! xx
How fantastic are pets?! I seriously do not understand people who don’t like cats or dogs. There is nothing better than having a best friend who thinks you are the bees knees and a little someone who is always happy to see you. I’m lucky I have Fletcher and Olive – best Labrador pooches ever! (even if they do make trouble for me at times…). I feel terrible for you Sandy – I can’t imagine how you must be feeling. If only pets could live forever or go when we go… RIP Ruby. May cat heaven be filled with all the things you loved!
Thanks so much for your sweet words. Ruby was a wonderful companion!
Thanks Cath and Iss…xx
Thanks Fifi – I remember your lovelies Poppy and Flannel. It is the worst part of pet ownership! xx
Sandy, so incredibly sorry to hear this news. Vale your beautiful Ruby cat. xxx
oh Sandy, you poor thing. My thoughts are with you during this hideous time. My elderly fat cat, Issy, sends you a purr, dribble and a head butt in sympathy and to the memory of your dear, beloved Ruby. Cath xx
I’m so sorry….this is my little ode to Ruby! xx
So sweet Sally, thank you!
