The Swedish Hasbeens Have Been Seen

I bought my pair of Swedish Hasbeens right at the beginning of winter. I have been looking at them longingly and trying them on for the last three months waiting, waiting, waiting for the right time to take them out for a walk. Then, of course, came the rain, rain, rain! When I woke up this morning and the sun was shining I took this opportunity to strap these suckers on and get them seen. Funny though I got a number of comments about them and questions to boot so I thought, if you were considering a pair of clog-type shoes, I’d fill you in.
Are they comfortable? YES MOST DEFINITELY – BUT there are a few things to take into consideration. They have a hard, wooden sole so it doesn’t bend when you walk and that does take a bit of getting used to. Mind you, if you love a wedge then it is really not any different. I should also say that I always get blisters and so far, I haven’t had a problem at all. I got the sky high version which, in high heel terms, isn’t really sky high at all and they are still comfortable which is saying something if you ask me.
Where did you get them? I originally tried them on at Tiny Bird in Noosa but they didn’t have my size so the shop assistant suggested that I try online. They were actually cheaper (even with the exchange rate and the postage) and they had a much wider selection so I would highly recommend buying from them direct. You can also get them at Gorman in the city. I would also suggest trying them on to make sure you get the right size – I think I went up a size – and you don’t want the hassle of having to return them to Sweden if you don’t have to.
Do you have any concerns with them? The only concern I have really, is that I bought natural, untreated leather and this means I can’t wear them in the wet as they will mark. That being said I have plenty of shoes I wouldn’t wear in the wet. (I mean don’t we all??). I will be interested to see how they wear because they apparently change colour over time (I think they call that a patina) but all in all I think they are a great everyday shoe, they go with everything and are cool enough to have people stop you on the street and ask you questions about them – I mean what more can you ask for from a humble shoe? I’d love to know if any of you get a pair – drop me a line and let me know!

Me too Steph! They are super comfortable. I am thinking about getting some low ones for every day. You can’t have too many Hasbeens now, can you?
I have the red, yellow, and navy in the peep toe high. I absolutely love them so I just ordered the cognac in super high. I Live in south Texas where it’s summer all year long so I wear them year round. Most comfy shoes I own!

Hi Sarah Jane, I know what you mean about addictive – I have been stalking the boots for a while now – do you have any? Are they as comfortable? I aim to live in mine over summer…can not wait! Thanks for your comments.
I also first tried them on at Tiny Bird in Noosa a few years ago, but again they didn’t have my size, so I went straight to the website. I have since gone crazy and purchased 4 pairs over the last couple of years, I love them!!! And they get softer as time goes on.
Wonderful ..thanks a lot for posting a good informitive blog
They are very, very pretty. Almost like the soul of a shoe, ghosted. Like the veins of a dried leaf. Essence of shoe.
very noice! Just checked out their site and I’m loving the boots…maybe for next winter.
LOVE THEM!!!!!
