Brisbane Wedding Photography – Gavin + Jody

January 31st, 2011

Well what a weekend I had!!  Two full days at the Your Local Wedding Guide Bridal Expo held at the Sofitel in Brisbane.  As always I got to meet a lot of brides-to-be and their families and friends and as always I ate way, way too much junk food (fudge and coconut ice anyone???) and came home with a raging sugar headache.  If we did see you there I hope you got a lot of great information for your wedding day.  I have been thinking about weddings (as you do at a Bridal Expo) and realised that we never posted the real wedding of Gavin and Jody.  It was recently on the fabulous Ms Polka Dot’s website, Polka Dot Bride. (Which, if you haven’t checked out you really should, it is hands down the BEST!)  Gavin runs a great biking website called Biking Brisbane – This is How We Roll and is totally into bikes like Jason so it was truly a meeting of the minds when they met.  Gavin and Jody’s wedding was full of true love and romance and some great, meaningful decorations.  I am also a fan of the bow tie – it completely suited the vintage styling of the wedding as well as added so much character to the usual man-in-a-suit outfit that almost all of the grooms wear.  Could this be the beginning of a new trend???

Ye gads – the paparazzi!!

What can we say – boys and their toys!!!

Jody’s beautiful wedding dress was by Lisa Ho.

Gavin and Jody designed their own newspaper for the day featuring the mast-head of the newspaper Gavin’s Dad used to run – it had a crossword, a lamington recipe and tongue-in-cheek gossip articles.

Their ceremony and reception were held at Old Government House with catering by Bretts Wharf.

I also wanted to add that this is my 100th post – far out brussel sprout!!!  I know you guys aren’t big talkers but if you have any ideas of things you would like me to post about leave a comment!!!  Any suggestions at all…send them through!

Hot Lips Revolution

January 31st, 2011

I have been noticing a revolution on the streets of late.  Everyone seems to be sporting a bright pink, red or orange lip.  If not the lip then the nail but that is for another post!  And the more matte the better.  Reminds me of the Poppy lipsticks of my youth.  You could go out all night long and not reapply your lipstick.  It even gave you a lovely stain the next morning!  (Come to think of it they actually never came off!!!)  I am loving the look of these bright colours and have recently purchased Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Red Square and am mustering up the courage to wear it out of the house.  This revolution has got me thinking about how many brides take on the challenge with red lips on the day.  Most bridal magazines suggest you go for a soft pink with a satin finish so it really is a bold statement to go for pink, red or orange.  We’ve seen quite a few brides taking up the challenge over the last year and if you ask me the bright lip looks gorgeous – it really does add some old world glamour and sexy punch.  Is anyone going to give the bright lip a go this year?

welcome
